Course description

Live chat is becoming increasingly popular as a method for quick and immediate communication between organisations and their service users. It is a unique channel that requires particular skills on the part of helpline workers to ensure that service users are engaged and that their needs are adequately addressed. Our course covers the key differences between live chat and other communication channels and provides attendees with the knowledge and skills to master these unique channel characteristics. Helpline workers will learn how to structure a live chat conversation and will practice techniques to identify and respond to service users’ needs. The course also addresses the threads which run through a conversation to ensure a consistent quality of engagement. This one day course runs from 10:00am to 4:00pm with breaks for lunch and comfort.

We want all participants to have the best and most engaging training - we are not interested in just bums on seats. Participants learn not just from the contents of the course, but from each other’s experiences so we would encourage you to book training on open courses. Our considerable training expertise tells us that, if there are too many people from one organisation on an open mixed course, they are less likely to mix with others (it’s natural to want to stick with who/what you know) and that their particular issues can dominate discussions. If your training needs mean you require more than 4 workers trained at once, it is better for all concerned if the training is adapted to suit your organisation’s needs.
